Consistency On Smaller Goals Brings Big Goals Closer
We usually have a big goal that we want to achieve in life, but sometimes, it is difficult to determine how far away we are from such goal. You might have a goal to become the best in your field, and the next question is how close are you to that. It is important to have goals, but more important is to be able to measure that goal.
For every big goal that you have, can you list out 5 to 10 things that you can consistently in the next 2 months that can move you closer to your goal? And it would be easy to measure those things you want to achieve in the next 2 months. Most times, the issue is not the goal that we have, but that we are not keeping track of it and one day, we realize that we were never even moving towards our goal in the first place.
It is sometimes not very easy to know exactly what it is that we want to achieve with the rest of our lives, but the most important thing is that you need to have something that you are deliberately pursuing. What you are pursuing might not lead to the overall goal, but at least, you are conscious about what you are doing and following up on that.
Most times, it is not the lack of doing something that does not make us move towards our goal, it is doing something that even takes us away from our goal. Because we do things without the conscious effort of knowing why we are on that track. If you never know where you are going, you might never get there.
The idea is not to break every single task into something that leads into your big goal, but at least have 2 to 3 things you are deliberately working on to move you towards your goal. Not everything that you do might lead you to your goal, but understand that you need to have some few things you are pursuing that could eventually lead you to the big goal.
It is usually the 20% that leads to the 80% anyways. So it is important to know that there would be some activities that would help push your life further than others. You just have to consciously decide what those activities have to be. As you start your day, look inwards and determine what activities you can consistently work on from this day that would help make the big goal you have for your life come a bit closer.
Know that you do not have to have every task or activity mapped down, just select some few and basically work on those ones. You just have to consistently work on them. They could be as simple as a 5 minutes activity everyday that pushes you towards the overall goal. It could be as simple as spending 20 minutes every day watching some online videos or some 10 minutes to make that call.
Smaller goals can help bring a bigger goal closer. So break down your big goals into smaller goals and consistently follow the small goals. Thanks and God bless.
