Feed Your Mind By Reading
Imagine a situation where you meet a person working on a piece of land trying to plant about a million seeds on the farm. You watch him closely over time and soon realize that he does not eat anything. You walk up to him and ask him why he has not had anything to eat, and the answer he gives you is that he is too busy working and does not need to eat anything. Well, you might praise him for his dedication to the job, but soon enough, one would take over the other, either he is taken down by exhaustion from not having anything to eat, or he would have to give in and find something to eat, and hopefully it is never too late at that point.
But when you read this, you tell yourself, this is impossible. But how many of us do this in our lives? How many of us give up seeking to develop ourselves all for the sake of having some urgent tasks to complete? We imagine that we can get something where we planted nothing? Our mind is the most important aspect of our being and what you feed your mind is what is most important. Forget what you eat, it is what eats you that is most important. But understand that what eats you goes for your mind, and when your mind is not developed to handle it, it crumbles.
So it is important to realize that we do indeed have a lot of urgent tasks to complete everyday and our reason for procastination can even be accepted. But for how long do you think you can continue on this path where you answer only to what is urgent without looking around and also seeking what is important. Looking at your table today, ask yourself whether the tasks you have to complete are urgent or important tasks. Urgent tasks need to be done as soon as possible, but important tasks might not be done immediately, but why they are important is because they have a more lasting impact in our lives.
So no matter what you think is preoccupying your time today, understand that some other things need to be taken into consideration in your lives. Things like what you feed your mind. And one of the easiest ways to have your mind grow beyond imagination is by feeding it through reading. By reading, you are able to live the lifes of so many people all at once. Only through reading can you indeed be 20 years old but have the experience of a life time. If you are 20 years old, but have read about how so many successful people made decisions in their lives, you have automatically learnt what took them so many years to achieve. And that was done by simply reading a book.
We underestimate the value of reading a book and think it is only for those who have time. Some of us even laugh at the thought of seeing others reading and say, if I have time one day, I would read. It is the same as saying if I have time one day, I would eat. It sounds insane to say that, but that is basically the same way it sounds when you say you have no time to develop the single most important treasure you have been given.
Understand that the mind is what imagines even before the hands create. Most importantly, the mind is your connection between your inner soul and your outer body. How you grow this connection would determine how you are able to bring the things in your inner soul to life. Whatever it is that you seek to achieve, usually your mind conceives it way before you hands create and develop it. Many inventors continue to work on their inventions for years even before their hands can make it happen because their inner souls have already created it. It is simply waiting for their hands to make it happen.
So understand that your mind is bigger than whatever you can imagine it to be. And the more you grow it, the more your outer self comes to a greater realization of what it has within it. Understand that all of us also want more time than the 24 hours we are everyday, and your excuse at this point cannot be that you do not have enough time. Do you mean God did not give you enough time or that you are not using the time you have well?
The time you have is enough to make the things you want to do happen, and by finding time to grow your mind, you would one day come to this realization too. It is never too late to get started on growing our minds by reading. Pick a book today that seeks to make you a better version of yourself and keep going on it. You do not need to finish a book a day, what you need to make is progress. Read even if it is a single page a day, even if you can just read half a page a day. Know that reading links it all, and especially when you read very good books, it all makes sense in the end.
I beg of you today to seek to grow your mind by reading books. Books contain an immeasurable amount of knowledge and until we begin to find these knowledge, we might not be able to attain that version of us that has truly expressed all that we have within us for the world to see. Learn that the outer body seeks to express your inner spirit and your mind is the connection. Grow your mind today and be that person. Pick a book and get started. Remember readers are leaders.
Thanks and God Bless.
