Have A Fix-It Mindset
Most of the processes we deal with every day are not perfect. Most if not all have ways in which they can be improved. As people who use these processes, we can either help find ways to fix these processes or simply keep talking about them. For me, I easily categorize people into two groups based on how they react to problems. Do they talk or do something.
I believe it is important to be able to talk about problems, but beyond just talking, we should be willing to act. If you are in a group where some of the processes are not going as smooth, try as much as you can to go beyond talking about it. Even in talking about it, you can improve and be better.
Reach out to the people in charge about the issues and what you believe are ways to fix them. Sometimes identifying a problem is easy, providing solutions and executing on the solutions is a very big part. So rather than implying talking and stopping at that, move forward and do even more.
Beyond pointing out what the problems are and the ways you believe they can be solved, one other important thing to do is to fix what you can. If you can start with small steps towards fixing the problem, then you are much better than anyone else who is not solving the problem.
Most times, people say it is not my problem to fix. I have an idea, if it is not your problem to fix, then it probably is not your problem to also talk about. You have to be willing to walk the talk. Talk is easy and very cheap. Writing this article is my way of helping to talk, but beyond just talking, also communicates ways to get things done.
If you find a problem at your workplace or anywhere else where you can make a change, do something about it. Speak to the people in charge, not only about the problem but also about ideas you have on fixing the problem. Most times, people have really tried fixing such problems, if you propose your ideas, then you have done what you can do.
If you can change something, go ahead and get started. The things you start might not look very big from start, but you have to keep going and hoping that whatever problems there are can be fixed with the methods you are implementing.
People that make changes are people that do. People that only talk about changes only talk. You have to decide which it is you want to be. Do you want to solve problems or talk about problems? If you honestly feel you cannot fix a problem, then it probably is a waste of time talking about it.
Keep going and try whatever means you can towards solving the problems around you today. No one can fix all issues, but we all can fix something. Thanks for reading and God bless.
