On The Act of Doing

You become more of what you do. As such, it is important to determine what behaviors align with what you want to become and go for that. At this point in my career, I would love to research and develop new ideas. As such, the main task I should be focusing on is sharing whatever new ideas come to mind. One day, hopefully, some of these ideas would make a difference in the world.

But one thing I have seen differently from a lot of people is holding on to one thing they are doing until it is perfect before they share it with the world. To me, it seems that we should keep doing more no matter what we feel about our work. Imagine a photographer who always seeks to find the best picture to take, and on the way does not take any pictures but keeps looking for the best picture. Consider then a second photographer who keeps taking pictures and trying to find the best picture to use. In the end, the second photographer would have been able to take a lot of pictures and hopefully improved on his craft along the way as opposed to the photographer looking to take that one picture.

This analogy does not definitely work for all scenarios. A professional photographer might know exactly what he is looking for and as such, might take time to get just that one picture. However, for a lot of us who are still in the learning and growing phase of our affairs, it makes sense to keep doing things because that is the only way we can improve on our craft. Let go of the need to be perfect now and try seeking improvement every day. That you grow every day is a sign that you are getting closer to what you seek.

As long as you are improving, then the chance of success is definitely getting higher every day. So let go of the need for perfection and focus on the need to improve by doing. That is the only way to keep improving. Keep pushing on and keep growing. Thanks so much and God bless.
