Reflecting On The Lessons Of Eid El Adha
For a lot of people, the day of Eid serves as a day to celebrate, felicitate with family and friends, and enjoy the break from our everyday activities. However, when we reflect back on the essence of Eid, it indeed serves as a great lesson for us all beyond simply having to slaughter an animal or simply to wear new clothes.
The story of Eid started when Allah spoke to His prophet to slaughter his son. How many of us today can indeed be that submissive when the idea of slaughtering one’s own simply goes beyond every logic we have ever believed in? It simply makes no sense. But reflecting on the situation now, some of the things in our lives sometimes defy logic and in the end, we wonder how it could have been possible. To Allah, the slaughtering was not what He needs, God wants us to realize by our own selves how far we believe in Him.
And this same test comes to us every day that things we might not understand would happen, but the most important thing we can do is to have faith. Faith that something is happening that we might not understand but we believe that Allah is in control. For me, I realize that faith is a lot more about believing in God without having all the details. If a human tells you he can help you, you want to understand the details, but when Allah wants to help you, you do not need the details. All you need is to believe that Allah is superior to whatever notion we might give Him. He far supersedes our imagination and observation and as such, all we can do is to believe.
And when the Prophet of Allah believed, things he never expected happened. In his mind, he was going to slaughter his son and that was it. For Allah, it was way greater. It was a path for the Prophet of Allah to earn reward and leave a legacy that every believing human would follow until the day of judgment. How powerful. Allah is indeed the All-Wise.
So I speak to you today to believe that whatever might be looking bad in your life today might not be as bad as you think. Allah might be preparing a path for you. A path you might not yet understand and all you can do to enjoy the ride is to give in your best and keep believing that something, in the end, would click, and the path would become way clearer. Clearer than it ever was. So while on the path, never give in, never give up faith. Keep believing and know that what was meant for you would never pass you, and what is for you would reach you wherever you are.
I leave you with the Sallah message that you might not understand how things might turn out, but what you can do is to know that the controller of our affairs would never let you down. The path might look as if you are going down, but surely with time, it would lead you to a greater path. A path you never expected. And until then, keep your faith high, higher than your challenges and your situation. And believe that Allah would help you no matter how the situation looks. Stay with faith and stay Blessed. Thanks
