So You Want To Quit?
So many times we get involved in things we want to turn out well, but the first outcome is not always as expected and we blame ourselves for ever getting started in the first place. At that point, the thing we tell ourselves is to quit and stop trying out whatever it is that we were trying out. And so you quit, and what happens, you feel a little better, but for just a while. Do you stop doing things that might not work out or you simply just stay in your comfort zone and never try out new things?
Well, there is a third option to that. You get yourself back up, understand why you failed the first time, and then understand how you could have improved. Then put back the effort and try again. Most times, you do not need to worry about trying out again on the same task because truth be told, there are things we excel at more than other things. So sometimes it pays that you consider what areas you can do much more with little effort and try again.
You do not want to give up in all things thinking that it is not your area of strength. Sometimes strength is more about the things you do more and more than something you simply just like from the beginning. Some things naturally come easier to us, and for some other things, we would need to put in a whole lot more work before you can really understand if it is something you want to go for. You cannot put in little effort in a task and get to hit a wall and you think it is not something you are good at. No, you would need to put in more time and effort before you finnally decide if it is something you want or not. So your level of knowledge is what you need to improve in such case rather than just giving up on it.
Before you seek to give up on a particular area, try as much as you can to reach out to mentors in the area who can better explain what it feels like to spend hours and days working in that area. You do not need to always be the person to try things out before you consider going for them. Speak to people in the field before you go in or let go.
Yes, you should let go on a lot of things, but before you do, try as much as you can to spend more time and also reach out to mentors. It is not enough to continue to find a skill or passion that you simply just like from the beginning. It requires time and effort to finalize whether you want to let go or not. If you give up in one area, how sure are you that you would not give up on another area? The spirit to keep pushing is really important no matter how things look.
Before you start on any task, look closely and understand as much as you can if it is something you want. Reach out to people in the field who have spent time doing it, and understand if you can do the things the seasoned experts have done. Some times, it is that we do have enough knowledge and that is what makes us frustrated with what we are doing. Go start from the beginning, understand the basics and try again. The world awaits your greatness.
Wishing you all the very best. Thanks and God Bless
