What Would You Do If You Were Not Afraid?
This question hit me hard. I first saw this question in the book “Who Moved My Cheese?” and it really got me thinking. So I ask you today, what would you do if you were not afraid? Life is not always as we want it, but sometimes, we seem to settle even when we are barely achieving our minimum. But what sometimes keeps us there is our fear, fear sometimes is right, but most of the time, it is not.
So in the end, fear keeps you in a mindset that prevents you from really achieving what you really want. It creates scenarios that might never happen and sometimes we remain stuck in that scenario such that life just passes us by. But it does not have to be that way.
Ask yourself today what you are most afraid of. Detail what would happen if you ever had to do away with your fear. Imagine what would happen if your fear was never possible. Do not forget that sometimes fear is good, but most of the time, when it comes to achieving greatness, it is sometimes wrong.
Would you go for that person you have always dreamed of if you were not afraid, would you give up that bad behavior of yours if you were not afraid? Sometimes when we are asked this question, we seem to think that the answer lies in starting something new, but sometimes, the answer simply lies in us giving up some of what we currently do or have.
Maybe that is what holds us back, that is what keeps us in the fear state. Take your time today and imagine 10 years from now if what you are most afraid of now would matter then. Would what you are currently afraid of be this significant in the next 10 years? In most cases, it would not be.
But a word of warning in trying to take this question to heart is to really examine yourself and not jump into hot decisions. Most people assume something is what is holding them back and later realize that it is something else. This does not then mean that you should not take action, but simply means that you have to be ready for whatever comes out of the situation.
You can only find out when you try. Part of not being afraid is to be ready for whatever comes out of your decision. In the end, it matters that on your death bed, you do not wish you could have done something which you can do now. Why live life easy only to be dead in the end? We would all be dead anyways.
So seek to be a better version of yourself everyday and never give in. The world awaits your success. Do have a blessed day. Thanks and God bless.
