Did you know that it is not yet possible to manufacture blood artificially and as such, everyone who needs blood must get it from another person? This simply means that blood can only be sourced from one person to another.

Due to this factor, it becomes important that blood must always be available for those in need as at when needed and this means that people must provide this blood through voluntary donation. Voluntary blood donation is the only sure way any country can sustain its blood requirements yearly.

To this end, it becomes paramount that everyone seeks to understand how to donate blood to help save others. Voluntary Blood Donation is an act of humanity everyone should partake in as you save a life when you donate blood.

An average adult has about 10 pints of blood and when you donate, you simply give just one pint of blood to the person in need. Within 24 hours, your body begins to create new red blood cells to replace the ones you gave out. In less than 8 weeks, you have your blood completely returned to your normal level. In 3 months, you can donate again.

When you donate blood, you help save someone who is in dire need of blood. It might be a pregnant woman who is in labor, a sick person, an accident victim and many more. Imagine the look on the patient’s face when they hear that you have donated to help save their lives. Imagine the joy they would have to walk out of the hospital hale and hearty because you have gone out of your way to donate. To save their lives.

Imagine how many lives you can save if you donate regularly. Donating regularly has been linked in some places to long life, and linked to prevention of cancer. Beyond these, do you not want to one day remember how many lives and generations you helped saved.

Blood Donation is one of the best ways to help save a life. Every country needs 1% of its population to regularly donate blood. Become part of that one percent to help your country. As not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.

The time is NOW. No need to procrastinate. Visit the nearest hospital closest to you to donate. Seek to enlighten people more about the need to donate. Simply sharing the information with family and friends can save your family and friends because who knows when anyone might need blood.

Did you know that 1 of every 3 pregnant woman in Nigeria would die due to the shortage of blood? Imagine how that family would feel if you help change those statistics. In the end, it matters that we help because you not only save the mother, you help save a generation yet unborn.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them and we would try out best to get back to you as soon as possible.

Happy World Blood Donor Day. The day is June 14th.

Thanks for reading and God Bless
