When Things Do Not Go As Planned

Have you ever had a plan to get something done and then something else comes up to take over your plan? You feel so bad about not being able to execute that plan you set out to achieve, but looking back today, you feel truly happy that your plan did not go as planned.

A lot of things happen in life and we feel we are in control, but something just takes over and we feel out of control, and feeling out of control makes us angry, but what if being out of control at that point in time might be the best thing to have ever happened to us. I see so many people get angry because things are not going their way, and they look so annoyed. But what if we could change our mindset when something we have really planned does not go our way.

During the 9/11 event, some of the things worth remembering were people who were not in the tower because things did not go as planned for them. Their exact plan was to be in the tower at the exact time when the hit happened, but somehow, they had an unanticipated event and they had to be out of the tower. One of the incidents I remember was a guy that had to go back home to change his clothes because something spilled on his clothes. For another, it was because he was held up at his daughter’s school or something. And these were some of the occasions that helped save their lives.

Understand that when you make plans and they do not go as you hoped, believe that the master of all planners is involved in your plans and would never give you anything lower than the best. You need to believe that a higher purpose is working on your plan and what you need to do is to be calm when you have done the best that you can.

You see many people shout and react negatively when things do not go as planned, for you, understand that being negative would not solve the problem and the most important thing you can begin to do is to determine if there was something you could have done that would have changed the whole story. If you realize that you could have done something, then you have learned a new thing that can help you in the future. But if you realize that it was the best you could have done, then be grateful to God that the plan did not go as planned.

You might do a follow up to see if things can still change, because it is not enough to simply just bow in and give in to whatever new plan comes into play, try as much as you can to see if you can still make a statement for yourself. So when you make plans and they do not go as planned, never be negative about it. If you did not give in as much as you should, then you have learned a lesson. If you have done the best that you can, then you keep praying because you know the best of planners is involved.

Sometimes we want something that would have been bad for us, and sometimes we detest something and that could actually have been the best for us. So no matter how the plan goes, keep pushing a little more to understand if you can still do something. If you cannot do anything, then accept what God has given and keep moving forward. Understand that it does not mean that you give up, it means that you develop a mindset that believes that something bigger is coming. So you keep going and do not let the little setback stop you from achieving the greater goal.

So as you start your day today, understand that some plans may not go as expected, do not react negatively, rather understand the situation and know if you can still do something about it. If you cannot, release the situation to the master of all planners, and keep moving forward. No victim mindset, just the mindset that something bigger is on its way. Thanks and God bless.
